Have Your Own Free Jewelry Showroom Right at Home!

Do you have an extra room or space in your house that's not being used? Why not convert it into a showroom for your jewelry designs?

When you sell your jewelry at craft shows and home parties, let people know they can view your jewelry by appointment in your home. With your showroom already set up and your jewelry beautifully displayed, it's an easy task for you to bring customers in to view your new designs. Plus, if you offer home parties, having a jewelry showroom already set up will save you time and effort. It's also perfect if you want to offer holiday open house campaigns. Just post your advertising and open up your in house showroom on the designated day!

The beauty of this arrangement is you have almost no overhead. Plus, you may be able to use your showroom as a tax write off. Be sure to discuss this possiblity with your accountant. Also, check in your area to make sure zoning laws allow you to have a home showroom.

You'll need to spread the word that you can show your jewelry designs by appointment. I would have this printed on a flyer you can drop in a customer's bag at craft shows. Revise your business card to reflect this information. You may want to consider offering a small discount if a customer purchases an item from your home showroom in order to generate interest.

To introduce your showroom to the public, consider planning an open house, preferably around a holiday when people will be buying jewelry as gifts. You might schedule it to begin on a Friday afternoon and carry over into Saturday. Make it fun and memorable by offering refreshments and maybe a quck game to break the ice. How about a jewelry trivia game? That would certainly get them to turn their thoughts to jewelry. You might also consider having a door prize consisting of one of your jewelry designs. The more you put people at ease, the more comfortable they'll feel buying from you.

You may want to schedule an open house as a recurring event around holidays. I have a friend who has an open house right after Thanksgiving, two weeks before Valentine's Day and two weeks before Mother's Day. The turn out and sales have been remarkable. At one of her after Thanksgiving sales, she made over a thousand dollars in profit. So, it can definitely be worth your time!

If your local zoning laws allow it, consider giving this idea a try. It can be a great boost for your handmade jewelry business!
