The Art of Displaying Your Handmade Jewelry at Shows

A beautiful jewelry display is a wonderful way to show your creativity and a well thought out display will definitely increase your jewelry sales. Do you need some fresh ideas for displaying your handmade jewelry?

Here are some to get you started:

       1. Use a natural or painted wooden shutter to display your folded earring cards.

       2. Buy an elegant old frame at a thrift store. Staple wire mesh to the back of it and

display it on an easel. You can finish the frames in any manner you’d like.

       3. Necklaces and bracelets can be displayed on a bed of sand, rocks, seashells,
or those inexpensive and colorful little glass gems sold in craft stores.

       4.  How about hanging necklaces and bracelets from a small Christmas tree?

       5.  Velvet pillows in rich, luscious colors can be used as props for jewelry display.

       6.  A variation on the use of mirrors is to use an old mirrored vanity tray for

display. I’ve done this and it was quite a success. You could also  use interesting,

old hand mirrors for display props.

       7.  Find some interesting kitchen bowls and saucers at your local thrift store to use as jewelry

display items. Drape the jewelry creatively over the dishes. Add rocks or sand to the

            containers.

        8. Buy some interesting tiles at your hardware store to lay your jewelry on. Tiles look

even more interesting when placed on a bed of rocks.

        9. If your jewelry has a vintage look or feel, why not use some old handkerchiefs and

vintage gloves as a display background? You could incorporate an old, antique mirrored

vanity into the setting as well as some old vintage photos for added interest.

      10. Use old baskets as display containers or props. These can be found inexpensively at

            thrift stores and yard sales.

11.Jewelry can also be displayed on backgrounds of stained glass. It would look even more

dramatic if you incorporated lighting from beneath the  stained glass pieces.

Some other thoughts to consider:

1.      Make sure your items are displayed at eye level so they can be easily seen and

accessed.

2.      Stick with a limited color scheme that fits the mood of your jewelry. Don’t try to

branch out into multiple colors which can cause confusion and weaken your overall concept.

3.      Let your booth set a “mood” and make your display consistent with that mood.

For example, if you make sleek, contemporary jewelry, an uncluttered, streamlined display would be most appropriate. Natural gemstone jewelry looks best with more natural display fixtures such as rocks, driftwood, or sand. A vintage jewelry line looks nice interspersed with antique props.

4.      Avoid booth clutter! This will create confusion in the customer’s mind which

Will almost certainly hurt your sales. Simple if usually better when it comes to

jewelry display.
