Use the Power of Words & Names to Sell More Jewelry!
If you'd like to super charge your jewelry sales, you may want to consider giving your jewelry pieces a new identiiy by renaming them . No, I don't mean renaming your company, but giving your jewelry items a catchy twist with a new designation. For example, wouldy you rather buy an ordinary pair of earrings or "ear candy". I don't know about you, but the second name intrigues and excites me much more than the first. To take it a step further, which sign do you think invites more jewelry sales?:
"Decorate your earlobes with Diana's Earrings. All Styles $15.00" or
"Sweeten up your earlobes with Diana's Ear Candy! All Styles $15.00"
People are more likely to stop and take a second look at the second sign than the first. Don't you think? Some other play on words you can use to give you jewelry a new designation include:
1. Replacing the word jewelry with adornments. For example, Diana's Adornments as opposed to Diana's Jewelry Designs
2. If you have a fun line of jewelry, why not call it Diana's Designer Doodads as opposed to Diana's Jewelry Designs?
3. How about Diana's Brilliant Baubles?
4. Do you sell hair accessories? Why not call them hairware?
There are so many other examples of word play you could use to give your jewelry line a unique twist and help with branding. It's words like these that really stick in your customer's minds and make them think you have something special and unique. Some other descriptive words you might want to consider for your jewelry line include: finery, trinkets, and regalia. I'm sure if you sit down with a pen and pad, you can come up with dozens of fun, quirky combinations of words that send a strong message about your jewelry line.
A friend I know who lives in another part of the country and sells her jewelry designs at craft shows, renamed her fun and humorous jewelry line from "Tiffany's Designs Company" to "Tiffany's Wacky Trinkets" and saw her jewelry sales nearly double. Sometimes something as simple as a humorous play on words can inspire people to buy. your jewelry designs.
The best way to approach this is to brainstorm word combinations with the help of a good thesaurus. Try to find a play on words that's consistent with the type of jewelry you sell and the image you're trying to portray. You want it to be something short and easy to remember that paints a vivid picture in your customer's mind of what your jewelry designs are all about. If possible, try to choose words that start with the same letter, as in Diana's Designer Doodads. This makes your message easier to remember.
Give this technique a try to help your jewelry designs stand out from the crowd! Nothing makes your jewelry designs more memorable than a clever play on words!
